Ugenda Privacy Policy

Ugenda is a personal organizer app for bills, tasks, reminders, and goals. This page explains what information the app collects, why, and how it's used. Ugenda is a small, independently run app — not a company — and this data is never sold or used for advertising.

Google user data we access, by permission

Ugenda requests two separate, distinct kinds of Google permission, at two different times:

• Sign-in (email, profile) — requested every time you log in. Google shares your email address, name, and profile picture. This is used only to create and identify your account and to display your name/picture back to you in the app. It is never used for anything else.
• Google Calendar (calendar.events, calendar.readonly) — optional, requested only if you click "Connect Google Calendar" in Settings. This is never requested at sign-in and never required to use the app. If you connect it, Ugenda can read your calendar's existing events (calendar.readonly) to show them alongside your Ugenda items, and create, update, or delete calendar events (calendar.events) that correspond to a bill, task, reminder, or event you've added in Ugenda — so it also shows up on your calendar. Ugenda only ever creates events tied to something you explicitly asked it to sync; it does not read or use the content of your other, unrelated calendar events for any other purpose. You can disconnect Calendar access at any time from Settings, which immediately deletes the stored access tokens.

Limited use of Google user data

Ugenda's use and transfer of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. Specifically, Google user data obtained through these permissions is never used for:

• Serving targeted or personalized advertising
• Selling, renting, or otherwise transferring it to data brokers or other third parties for their own use
• Training or improving generalized (non-personalized) AI or machine learning models
• Determining creditworthiness or for lending purposes

Google user data is used only to provide and maintain the specific Ugenda features described above — nothing more.

Content you add

Everything you enter — bill and task titles, amounts, due dates, notes, recurrence settings, and any contact name or phone number you attach to an item (so you can text or call that person about it) — is stored so the app can show it back to you and remind you about it. If you use the expense-logging feature with location tagging, the GPS coordinates you choose to attach are stored with that expense entry only.

Chat and voice features

Messages you send to the AI assistant, and any text generated for it to speak aloud, are sent to Groq (a third-party AI provider) to generate a response or carry out an action you asked for, like creating or updating an item. Voice input is transcribed by your browser before it ever reaches the app. Groq processes this content under its own privacy terms; Ugenda does not use it for anything beyond generating that one reply.

Notifications

If you enable reminders, your browser's push notification subscription details are stored so the app can send you a reminder at the right time. You can turn this off at any time in Settings.

Who else sees this data

Your data is only used to run the app for you — it is never shared with other users of the app, sold, or used for advertising. It passes through these services, each governed by their own privacy policy:

• Google — sign-in, and Calendar sync if you connect it
• Groq — processes chat messages and generates spoken replies
• Railway — hosts the app and its database

How your data is protected

All traffic to and from Ugenda is encrypted in transit (HTTPS). Your session is a signed, browser-only cookie marked HTTP-only, so it isn't readable by page scripts. Google Calendar access tokens are stored server-side only — they are never sent to or exposed in your browser. Access to the underlying database is restricted to the app's own server process.

How long data is kept

Your items, goals, and account details are kept for as long as your account exists. Deleting an item moves it to Trash, where it's recoverable until you empty the Trash from Settings, at which point it's permanently removed. Disconnecting Google Calendar deletes its stored access tokens immediately. To have your entire account and all associated data permanently deleted, contact [email protected], and it will be removed within a reasonable time of the request.

Your rights

You can ask, at any time, to see a copy of the data Ugenda holds about you, to correct it, or to have it deleted, by contacting [email protected]. Most of this — your items, goals, and settings — is also directly visible and editable inside the app itself at any time.

Children's privacy

Ugenda is not directed at children, and does not knowingly collect information from anyone under 13.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, the "Last updated" date above will change too. Continued use of the app after an update means you accept the revised policy.
